Part-Time Night Welding Instructor Position

Employment Status

The Part-Time Night Welding Instructor is an at-will employee who reports directly to the Director of Training and Training Coordinator.

Compensation

  • Hours may vary according to the training schedule and assignments made by the Director of Training.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a subject matter expert in the identification, design, and development of course curriculum and lesson plans related to welding.
  2. Maintain active files and records for all journeypersons and apprentices participating in night welding classes.
  3. Maintain accurate attendance records for each night class taught.
  4. Track journeyperson and apprentice grades and report any issues or concerns to the Director of Training.
  5. Maintain classroom discipline and submit all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  6. Meet regularly with the Director of Training to determine program needs, including equipment, training materials, and class schedules.
  7. Attend instructor upgrade classes, conferences, and other training opportunities as directed by the SMART Local 265 JATC, including travel when required.
  8. Set up and maintain shop and classroom environments that support effective instruction.
  9. Design and develop curriculum and lesson plans for Journeyperson Upgrade classes.
  10. Collaborate with other SMART 265 JATC instructors to develop and improve curriculum and lesson plans.
  11. Ensure all SMART 265 JATC equipment and tools remain in safe working order.
  12. Assist the Director of Training in maintaining class schedules.

 

Qualifications

Required

  1. Demonstrated leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  2. Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  3. Strong commitment to fostering a positive and productive training culture.
  4. Knowledge of welding practices and procedures.
  5. Must be a member in good standing with SMART Local 265.

Preferred

  1. Welding experience
  2. SMART Local 265 member
  3. Current AWS (American Welding Society) welding certification.
